I see the future of television coming to apex soon, and the ones on top will be those who were not afraid of the future or change. The good ol' boy broadcasters will have to come to an agreement not only with the ISP's but also the view public, who's eyes balls on screen drive ad revenue.
I see the future of television where the broadcast networks will pay ISP's a fee to not count the data flow to and from their networks against their internet subscribers, there by eliminating data caps. Most everyone has an internet connection instead of a cable or satellite service for viewing television. There will be a more accurate rating system from logins than from Nielson ratings and phone polls. People would spend more time on particular Network/broadcaster site watching there favorite shows and having to sit through the ads to continue watching there by generating more revenue for the network, as long as they have quality programming and up time.

I spend more time watch netcast than broadcast television except for local news. Two sites of good quality are
Revision3.com and
TWiT.tv who born from the demise of
TechTv, a network that was bought by comcast and
merged with G4tv. G4 was a network solely for all things gaming where TechTv was for all things tech, but it had a gaming show that was kicking the butt of the shows on G4. The two were merged and all the tech shows, especially the best show on
The ScreenSavers were mangled in such a way that they were never the same, the Screensaver was deformed into
Attack of the Show, which is a ratings slug (not good). The G4 network is now like the Spike network all COPs reruns 23 hours a day.
The networks and ISP's are at a crossroad one way leads to doom the other to prosperity. People would rather pay for an internet connection rather than cable television. The networks loose eyeballs and ad sales, the have to get on the broadband band wagon. But, the ISP's have a strangle hold on data through put, so the networks will end up paying the ISP's to loosen their grip on the data caps. Freeing us to watch what we want and when we want with out having to pay for two pipes of entertainment into our homes.
